The 3D trailer for Mohanlal’s most-anticipated debut directorial, Barroz, was premiered at a PVR screen in Mumbai city on 2 August. Mohanlal, cinematographer Santosh Shivan. Rajiv Kumar and other crew members attended the special screening.
Reports say Mohanlal approved the final trailer cut for the film after the special screening. His photo with team Barroz at the screening of the 3D trailer went viral on social media. Meanwhile, the makers will release the trailer on social media soon.
Mohanlal reached Mumbai after wrapping up the Gujarat schedule of L2: Empuraan, under the direction of Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Barroz is a fantasy film bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas. B Ajithkumar is the editor. Lydian Nadhaswaram is the music director, while Mark Kilian is composing the background score.
The makers unveiled a special poster for New Year and a 3D poster earlier this year, which featured Mohanlal having fun with a girl child. The poster gave the impression that the film would be a visual treat for children.
The making video became a hot topic of discussion among netizens after it was released during the Vanitha Film Awards. Since then, expectations are running sky-high for this project.
Barroz was supposed to hit the silver screen on 28 March. However, the makers deferred the release to 12 September due to the pending post-production work.
The film’s screenplay is based on Jijo Punnoose’s popular novel “Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure“. In the novel, Barroz protects Vasco da Gama’s hidden treasure for over four centuries. It’s his responsibility to pass on this wealth to a true descendant of Vasco da Gama.
Mohanlal plays the titular role in the flick. The other cast includes Maya, Sara Vega, Tuhin Menon, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, and Guru Somasundaram.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is also working on his forthcoming film with Shobana, tentatively titled L360. It is helmed by director Tharun Moorthy and produced by Rejaputhra Visual Media. Jakes Bejoy is the music composer.
The remastered version of his Devadoothan (2000), which was re-released on 26 July, is running successfully in 200 theatres worldwide.
