Kicking off the Praja Palana initiative, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy released the logo, poster, and application form for the six guarantees on Wednesday evening, 27 December. These forms can be filled and submitted at various designated locations in Gram Panchayats (in villages) and GHMC wards (in the city).

Villagers no longer need to travel to the Secretariat or Praja Vani to address their issues with government schemes. Instead, the government has taken the initiative to distribute application forms in most villages in order to collect beneficiary details, Chief Minister Reddy announced at a press conference.

He added that applications are open to everybody for the six guarantees.

Praja Palana is the outreach programme of the Telangana government to collect applications of the beneficiaries for its six guarantees.

Application process made easy

Gram Sabhas have been formed for the Praja Palana programme to assist people in villages. Sarpanch, Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTCs), and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) in the village councils will provide support, Chief Minister Reddy said at the press conference on Wednesday.

“Starting from 28 December, applications related to five out of six available schemes — Mahalakshmi, Rythu Bharosa, Gruha Jyothi, Indiramma houses, and Cheyutha — can be submitted in villages, towns, and municipal wards. Gram Sabhas is set to collect these applications within eight working days,” he said.

Chief Minister Reddy emphasised the government’s commitment to collecting beneficiary details before 7 January, to extend these schemes to eligible recipients.

“This initiative signifies the government’s commitment to reaching the people and ensuring justice,” Reddy added.

The ongoing application submission process serves as a data collection effort to facilitate target achievement and government responsibilities. Mandal Revenue Officers will oversee the two groups formed in each Mandal, streamlining the application process.

Chief Minister Reddy assured that the government, tasked with the responsibility of serving the people, would conduct a special drive to submit applications in villages, reducing the need for people to travel. However, applicants who miss this drive — Praja Palana — should not worry, as the applications can also be submitted later at the offices of Mandal Revenue Officers, he stated.

Regarding ration card submissions, Reddy said that if an applicant doesn’t have a ration card, they can mark the box indicating that they have no ration card. There is a separate counter for people submitting requests and families without a ration card need not worry.

The window for issuing new ration cards will be released soon and, until then, they can fill out the form for other eligible schemes, explained Chief Minister Reddy.
