The Special Investigation Team formed to probe the alleged sexual abuse cases against Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna has detained four more people in connection with kidnapping a woman, sources in the SIT said on Thursday, 9 May.

Meanwhile, a Special Court for Elected Representatives in Bengaluru adjourned the bail plea hearing of Revanna in connection with the case to 13 May.

The 66-year-old Revanna is the son of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda.

After the completion of police custody, Revanna was on Wednesday produced before an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. The court remanded him to judicial custody till 14 May.

The four people were picked up to find out their role in the case, police said. Revanna’s aide Sathish Babanna was also arrested and is in police custody.

Revanna and Babanna were arrested first for allegedly kidnapping a woman, a mother of three, from her house and keeping her under illegal detention, police sources said.

The woman has been rescued, the sources added.

Police took action against the 20-year-old son of the victim woman who charged that his mother had figured in the huge cache of explicit videos leaked recently of women who were allegedly raped and molested by Prajwal.

All four are from Krishnaraja Nagara in Mysuru.

After the completion of four days of police custody, Revanna was produced before an Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.

The state government on the same day also issued an order to strengthen the team of government prosecutors to conduct cases filed by the SIT formed to probe the alleged sexual assault cases involving JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna.

Senior advocates Ashok Naik and Jayna Kothari have been appointed as Additional Special Public Prosecutors, according to a statement from Karnataka CMO.

Explicit videos of sexual abuse of several women by Prajwal had been doing the rounds on social media based on which the state government formed the SIT on April 28 to probe the case after the Karnataka State Commission for Women wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Prajwal (33), who was the NDA candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, reportedly left the country on 27 April, a day after the elections, and skipped the SIT summons to appear before it.
