KTR and Revanth Reddy

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, 27 December, described as blood money the wealth that BRS working president KT Rama Rao had allegedly amassed.

Revanth also said he would make KTR “return the entire ill-gotten wealth” to its rightful owners — the people.

Reacting sharply to KTR “making a show” of coming to the rescue of a woman who was in dire need of help and giving her a cheque for ₹1 lakh, Revanth Reddy said that KTR had so far returned only ₹1 lakh from the ₹1 lakh crore “they” had stashed away,

The needle of accusation was at KTR’s father and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

The Praja Vani programme of the state government had forced KTR to help the woman, he said.

“We will make them repay their entire loot to the people. The money that KTR has represents the flesh and blood of the people,” he said, while releasing the form that has to be used to claim the benefits under six guarantees, at the secretariat.

KCR ‘hid’ 22 Land Cruisers: CM

The Chief Minister also ridiculed the claims of the former BRS minister that development meant the construction of buildings after pulling down those that were in fine fettle. “Does anyone call it development?” he asked.

“The former chief minister bought 22 new Land Cruisers and hid them in Vijayawada so he could use them after returning to power. Talk about fate: They came to us,” he said.

“Even I did not know about it until 10 days after I became chief minister,” he said.

“Each vehicle costs ₹3 crore because they are bulletproof vehicles. This is how KCR has created wealth for the state,” Reddy said sarcastically.

The BRS, however, countered the claim and accused the Chief Minister of misleading people. “It’s an open fact that, new cars get bullet proof (SIC) done in Vijayawada, Everyone including Revanth Reddy already knew about this,” said Y Satish Reddy, Spokesperson of BRS on X.

Referring to the filling of government vacancies, Revanth said that he would attend to it after reconstituting the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).

The chairman and five members of the embattled commission have already resigned.

“As soon as the governor accepts their resignation, we will constitute a new board and fill the vacancies in accordance with a job calendar. There is no need for the unemployed to worry about when fresh notifications for recruitment will be issued,” he said.

Meanwhile, Revanth noted that the Congress, immediately after forming the government, implemented two guarantees promised to the people.

From Thursday till 6 January, the Praja Palana initiative will accept applications from prospective claimants looking to get the benefits under the five guarantees.

“We have taken up the programme to keep the promises that we have made to the people. Our objective is to extend a helping hand to those who need assistance,” he said.

Praja Vani a success

He said the overwhelming response to the Praja Vani programme was indicative of how callous and reluctant the previous government was in attending to the grievances of the people.

People from far-off places in the state were coming to Hyderabad and handing over their representations, the Chief Minister said.

He said that he had decided to move the government to the people instead of asking them to approach the government. “This is the quintessence of Praja Palana,” he said.

He also pointed out that if Praja Palana was to be successful, the prerequisite would be the removal of “gadila palana” (feudal governance). “That is what we are doing now,” he said.

He pointed out that Praja Palana was to ensure that all the welfare schemes reached the targeted beneficiaries.

“We are increasing the number of counters in villages where the population is high. Applications can be submitted even at gram panchayat offices,” said the Chief Minister.

“People can submit the forms even after the Praja Palana deadline on 6 January. Necessary arrangements are being made at MPDO offices to accept applications after the due date,” he said.

Revanth also promised that the officials would take applications from even those who did not have ration cards.
