Telugu box office stares at another dull phase!

After a brief slump following the Sankranthi festival, the Telugu box office has struggled through February and March. Several weeks passed without noteworthy releases in theatres.

However, by the end of March, there was a surge in box office business. The summer season kicked off with a bang with the success of Siddhu Jonnalagadda-starrer Tillu Square, which continued to perform strongly in its second weekend.

Last week, Vijaya Deverakonda’s The Family Star generated some buzz but it fell flat. However, the Telugu dubbed version of the Malayalam blockbuster film Manjummel Boys caught the audience’s attention.

Though The Family Star didn’t receive favourable reviews, it still offered viewers a choice alongside other releases. However, this week, the box office has seen a downturn once again.

The latest releases, Anjali’s Geethanjali Malli Vachindi and Suhas’ Sriranga Neethulu failed to capture the viewers’ interest.

The lacklustre response to the routine horror comedy Geethanjali Malli Vachindi resulted in a few takers in theatres on its opening day.

Similarly, Sriranga Neethulu failed to generate any excitement among audiences.

Another dubbed film, Love Guru starring Vijay Anthony, also saw poor reviews, while the Hindi films Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan struggled to make an impact in Telugu states.

It seems like the previous successful releases Tillu Square and Manjummel Boys will continue to influence the Telugu box office this weekend, too.
