Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a dig at BJP national general secretary Radha Mohan Das Agrawal over allegedly questioning the party worker for putting up a photograph of Swami Vivekananda’s photograph on the stage during the party’s executive meeting at Bengaluru on Thursday.

In his post on X, Siddaramaiah posted the video of Agrawal — also a Rajya Sabha MP — questioning the party worker about putting Vivekananda’s photo on the stage.

“Despite the BJP and Sangh Parivar’s attempts to eulogise Swami Vivekananda, their inner hatred towards him is evident,” the chief minister said.

However, Agrawal responded to the chief minister when South First posted the latter’s claim on X. He denied the allegation made by the chief minister and said, “We celebrate Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.”

‘Insulted Hindu society’

“BJP national general secretary Radhamohan Das Agarwal openly expressed his disdain by asking, ‘What is the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s picture on the stage?’ This is an insult not only to Swami Vivekananda but also to the entire Hindu society,” the chief minister said.

Continuing his tirade against the BJP, he said: “The Sangh Parivar, which claims to be a champion of Hinduism, has failed to understand the essence of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings.”

“He preached universal brotherhood, scientific thinking, and harmony, but the BJP promotes hatred and violence. Swami Vivekananda addressed people from different religions, cultures, and languages as ‘my dear brothers and sisters’ at the World Parliament of Religions,” he added.

“He considered Hinduism as a universal religion that encompasses all. But the BJP’s ideology is contrary to this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also responsible for this,” Siddaramaiah claimed.

Demands public apology

“That’s why Radhamohan Das Agarwal had the audacity to question the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s picture in a gathering of thousands,” Siddaramaiah demanded BJP to apologise publicly for insulting Swami Vivekananda.

Denying the accusations of Siddaramaiah, BJP leader Agrawal responded to the South First on X: “Most cheap statement. We celebrate Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.”

“So, a simple question was, today isn’t his birthday, then he said it’s his punyatithi (death anniversary),” Agrawal questioned the chief minister.

“Siddaramaiah, thanks a lot doing spying on our political meeting, it shows that you’re deeply afraid of BJP now,” he claimed.

“In the meeting, I told that NDA has defeated you in 139 out of 224 assembly constituencies (in Lok Sabha polls). So, on political and moral grounds you must resign. Are you (resigning) or not?” Agrawal further questioned.
