Enter Sangeetha Aiyer, a distinguished Metabolic Health Practitioner, renowned for her insightful posts on X. She sheds light on several red flags that demand attention.

Taking to X, she lists suggestions that could help in identifying these red flags in order to get back on the right track. She says that taking control of one’s metabolic health is crucial, and making lifestyle and dietary changes can yield significant improvements in just 12 to 14 weeks.

She adds that it is important to remember that these signs are the body’s way of asking for help and one should pay attention to them, and consult a healthcare professional when symptoms occur.

1. Insulin resistance indicators

If you notice velvety dark patches on your neck, skin warts, or boils around your genitalia, these could be signs of insulin resistance.

2. Visceral fat and NAFLD

A combination of skinny arms and legs but having a pot belly, along with snoring and chin fat, can indicate visceral fat accumulation and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).

3. Blood sugar imbalances

Experiencing brain fog, poor memory, lethargy, or low energy, especially post-noon, are classic signs of roller coaster blood sugars.

4. Carb-related weight gain

Man boobs (gynecomastia), love handles, stubborn belly fat, or a female weight gain pattern in men can be the result of a high-carb diet, high body fat, and low testosterone levels.

5. Digestive distress

Irregular bowels, acidity, heartburn, etc, might be your body reacting to excessive wheat consumption, sugar, junk food, and starch.

6. Protein deficiency

Feeling “hangry” (angry when hungry) is a common symptom of a low-protein diet.

7. Iron deficiency

Fatigue, low haemoglobin, and dizziness are often signs of low iron levels. Consuming meat and eggs can help address this.

8. Body aches

Unexplained body aches without a clear diagnosis might be due to a lack of physical activity or low Vitamin D levels.
