CM Revanth suspects grand plot: BJP seeking 400 plus seats to rewrite Constitution, scrap reservation

"After annulling the reservations, the BJP wants to turn the Dalits, tribals and OBCs into slaves of the corporate sector. The BJP is acting like the erstwhile East India company," the chief minister said.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday, 27 April, said that the BJP was eyeing 400 plus seats in Lok Sabha elections to do away with reservations currently being implemented in the country.

Speaking to media persons at his residence in Hyderabad, the chief minister described the attempts to get more than 400 seats as a “conspiracy” to rehash the Indian constitution to make India a country without reservations for any caste.

Reminding that it was the Congress which had created reservations for the SCs and STs, he recalled BP Mandal Commission recommending 27 percent reservation to the BCs but the RSS opposing the move.

He said that even the Supreme Court also upheld the recommendations of the Mandal Commission and suggested that reservations should not exceed 50 percent.

‘A surgical strike on Dalits, tribals and OBCs’

After senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi began receiving representations that reservations should be in proportion to the population, he promised to conduct BC caste census.

“Rahul Gandhi described census as an x-ray of a patient, helping the doctor to know what ailed him,” he said. The Chief Minister said the BJP, however, is keen on doing away with reservations.

“The great conspiracy is to scrap reservations by 2025, which is not possible unless the Constitution of India is rewritten. That is why the BJP wants more than 400 seats. It will be a surgical strike on Dalits, tribals and OBCs,” he said.

Revanth Reddy said that people should realise that danger was fast approaching the country and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were spewing venom on the Congress for trying to expose the BJP of its nefarious designs.

The chief minister said that the BJP has stooped to the level of saying that even mangal sutras of women would be snatched away, which is nothing but irresponsible talk.

Even the canard that the ruling BJP was spreading that the properties of individuals would be snatched if the Congress is voted to power was nothing but venting spleen on the party.

‘BC caste census a historical necessity’

He said, “The Constitution has guaranteed the citizens right to private property and no one can snatch it away from any one. Even a person cannot snatch the property of his wife without her consent. The BJP was only trying to lead the people up the garden path to win 400 seats.”

The chief minister said that the BJP was implementing the RSS plan to show Hindus as one congregation by removing reservations to various castes.

The proof that the BJP was implementing the policy of the RSS lay in scrapping triple talaq, Article 370, bringing in Uniform Civil Code and Citizenship Amendment Act.

“After annulling the reservations, the BJP wants to turn the Dalits, tribals and OBCs into slaves of the corporate sector. “The BJP is acting like the erstwhile East India company,” he said.

The chief minister, stressing the need for caste census, said that it was the only way to increase reservation percentage.

Neither Narendra Modi nor Amit shah had ever said anywhere that they would not scarp reservations or for that matter they never said that they would hike reservations either. “BC caste census is a historical necessity,” he said.

Taking aim at KCR

He trained his guns at BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao for not making any comment on this crucial issue while speaking on all issues.

In fact, in the past KCR had advocated rewriting of the Indian Constitution and it is now imperative that KCR should explain his stand on BJP’s move to scrap reservations.

“What is your action plan if the BJP goes about scraping reservations?,” he asked KCR.

He wondered why KCR was on a bus yatra demanding that a government, which is hardly over 100 days should step down without explaining his plan of action against Narendra Modi, who wants to rehash the entire Constitution of India.

“Who is your target? Is it the 100-day old government of the Congress or Narendra Modi, who has been cheating the people for the last 10 years?” he asked.

Revanth asserted that the KCR had gone on knees before Narendra Modi to get bail for his daughter K Kavitha, who is jail in Delhi for her alleged role in Delhi liquor scam.

The chief minister reiterated that the BRS is in league with BJP in the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.

“Medchal MLA and former minister Ch Malla Reddy declared yesterday that BJP was winning the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat. If the BRS is fighting against the BJP, it should immediately suspend Malla Reddy from the party,” he demanded.

He also wondered why KTR was supporting Malla Reddy, who was siding with the BJP.

“What does all this indicate?” Revanth Reddy asked and asserted that the BRS had already offered five Lok Sabha seats on a platter to the BJP.

“KTR who held 31 meetings to defeat me when I was contesting from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency in 2019 elections, has so far held only one meeting. KTR has not been talking against BJP candidate Eatala Rajender, which all indicates the prevalence of collusion between the two parties” Revanth Reddy said.
