Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas’s new project has been titled Avaran. While announcing the title, the makers also released a motion poster on Sunday, 16 June.
The movie is written by renowned scenarist Benny P Nayarambalam, who penned blockbusters like Chanthupottu (2005), Thommanum Makkalum (2005), and Chotta Mumbai (2007).
Avaran is directed by debutant Shilpa Alexander, who worked as an associate director for Biju Menon’s Padayottam (2018).
The film is produced by writer-director Jinu V Abraham under the banner of Jinu Abraham Innovation.
The motion poster of Avaran was released through the social media pages of Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Manju Warrier.
Avaran is touted to be a rom-com with mass elements. Further details about the film are awaited.
The cinematography is handled by Jomon T John and the editing by Shameer Mohammad.
The music is composed by Jakes Bijoy and the costume design is taken care of by Sameera Saneesh.

Tovino Thomas’s recent movie Nadikar (2024) was one of the most-anticipated projects of the year. However, it couldn’t keep up with the expectations of the audience.
The movie, directed by Lal Jr, wasn’t a commercial hit and is awaiting its OTT release.
Meanwhile, Tovino’s Anweshippin Kandethum, released early this year, impressed one and all. The thriller, directed by Darwin Kuriakose, did well in theatres.
Nevertheless, the tremendous success of Premalu and Manjummel Boys overshadowed the performance of Anweshippin Kandethum.
Meanwhile, Tovino Thomas has an interesting lineup of films this year.
His 3D movie, Ajayante Randam Moshanam under the direction of Jitin Lal, will see the actor in triple roles for the first time.
Directors duo Anas Khan-Akhil Paul’s Identity is under the post-production state. It stars Tamil actor Trisha as the female lead.
The Malayalam actor is also part of Mohanlal-starrer L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Later, he will work for Saiju Sreedharan’s Munpe.
Tovino is also producing actor-director Basil Joseph‘s Marana Mass.
