Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil pre-sales

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph’s Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil is slated for a grand release in theatres worldwide on Thursday, 16 May.

The Malayalam movie drew huge expectations as it is directed by Vipin Das, who earlier helmed the social satire Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (2022), a blockbuster hit starring Basil Joseph and Darshana Rajendran.

Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil marks the first collaboration between Prithviraj and Basil. The film promises a hilarious ride for the fans of both actors who delivered hits individually.

Prithviraj Sukumaran is currently riding on the success of Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life), which is still running in theatres and has collected around ₹158 crore globally.

His Telugu debut, Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire headlined by Prabhas, was also a megahit.

At the same time, Basil Joseph has proved his mettle as a director and actor. His recent outing, Varshangalkku Shesham where he played a pivotal role, is running to packed houses and is a blockbuster.

His previous solo release, Falimy (2023) directed by Nithish Sahadev, too was a hit.

Good pre-sales for Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil

Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil is witnessing good pre-sales across the world.

According to trade experts, the Malayalam movie is expected to register a pre-business of over ₹75 lakh in Kerala alone.

The makers have confirmed 842 shows in Kerala on the opening day. Depending on the first-day-first-show result, there are chances for the flick to hit more screens.

In Kochi and its suburban areas, 165 shows have been chartered in 28 centres.

The film is also being released in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the US, Canada, the UK, and the GCC countries. Malayalam cinema enjoys a good fan base and market in these countries.

When contacted, Mukesh R Mehta of E4 Entertainments (the co-producer of Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil) told South First that the pre-sales for the movie are quite encouraging and they are hopeful about a positive response from the audience.

During a promotional press meet, Prithviraj Sukumaran said the film marks his return to the comedy genre after some time and oozed confidence that it would have a re-watch value.

Director Vipin Das clarified that Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil has caricaturish characters and their actions won’t have logic. He also termed his latest venture as a different movie and very unlike his previous film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.

Anoop Naroor, the Managing Partner of Kerala-based Aura Cinemas, told South First that he is sure that the film would register a good box-office collection since it’s a comedy entertainer. “The director has proved it before in his previous works. Moreover, the one has a good cast.”

Another theatre owner, on condition of anonymity, felt that the movie’s success depends on its comedy. “It will be a hit if comedy works in theatres and vice-versa.”

Pre-release buzz

Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil has created a good buzz among film lovers and fans.

Its promotional material, like trailers and video songs, received a tremendous response from the audience.

The recently-released wedding song, “K for Kalyanam” featured all the lead actors (Prithviraj, Basil, Nikhila Vimal, and Anaswara Rajan) dancing to a groovy tune composed by music director Ankit Menon.

The “Krishna” song sung by actor Aju Varghese left a good impact on film lovers.

On Wednesday, 15 May, the makers launched a release teaser, which again evoked a good response from audiences.

The movie has a stellar cast, including Jagadeesh and Aju Varghese. Tamil actor Yogi Babu, who is debuting in Malayalam, will play a crucial role in the flick.

The film has songs composed by Ankit Vijay.

It is written by Deepu Pradeep. Deepu is known for his quirky scripts for Kunjiramayanam (2015) and the recent web series Perilloor Premier League(2015).
