FEOUK bans Renji Panicker

Malayalam actor-director Renji Panicker has been barred by the Kerala Film Exhibitors United Organisation (FEOUK), a body of theatre owners.

The reason for the ban, as per FEOUK, is the unpaid dues by the production and distribution company, which has a partnership with Renji Panicker.

Sources said the theatre owners have decided not to cooperate with the actor until the outstanding dues are paid. This means that theatres under FEOUK will not exhibit the films acted by Renji Panicker or that have any association with him.

The decision will affect the upcoming movie A Ranjith Cinema in which Renji Panicker plays an important role.

Hunt, directed by Shaji Kailas, is another upcoming movie of the actor which is in the post-production stage.

The actor-director was banned in March this year. However, films like Kolaambi (2023) and Section 306 IPC (2023), starring Renji Panicker, were released in cinema halls by defying the ban.

The FEOUK said the actor wasn’t ready to discuss the issue and hoped that it would clear the unpaid dues at the earliest.

Renji Panicker rose to fame as a scriptwriter in the 90s and later shifted to direction. However, he is simultaneously acting in movies.
