After the successful run in February, March and April, Malayalam cinema has some promising projects in May 2024.
These include Nivin Pauly’s Malayalee From India, Tovino Thomas’ Nadikar, and Prithviraj-Basil Joseph’s Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil.
Movie buffs and industry insiders are eagerly awaiting these movies, since they are hitting the screens after four major blockbusters that grossed over ₹100 crore worldwide — Premalu, Manjummel Boys, Aadujeevitham, and Aavesham.
Well, Here’s the Malayalam watchlist for May 2024.
Malayalee From India is a much-anticipated movie in Nivin Pauly’s career. The actor is pinning high hopes on the film since he didn’t have any major hits for some time.
The flick will be released on 1 May.
Nivin Pauly announced the release date through his social media platforms.
The teaser, released on 29 April, suggested that Malayalee From India is a comedy-drama.
It is directed by Dijo Jose Antony and written by Sharis Mohammed. They both worked together for like Queen (2018) and Jana Gana Mana (2022).
Malayalee From India also casts Dhyan Sreenivasan in a crucial role. Anaswara Rajan, Manju Pillai, Shine Tom Chacko, Salim Kumar, and Vijayakumar.
It is produced by Nivin’s Pauly Jr Pictures and Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames.
Sudeep Elamon is the cinematographer. Sreejith Sarang is the editor. Jakes Bejoy is the music director.
Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph are collaborating for the first time in Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil.
The announcement of the project excited the fans and film lovers as the movie marks the reunion of Basil Joseph and Vipin Das, who earlier worked on the super hit movie Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (2022).
Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil teaser showcases some hilarious sequences between Prithviraj and Basil Joseph.
The movie is touted to be a family wedding entertainer. It will hit the theatres on 16 May.
The makers recently unveiled the first-look poster.
E4 Entertainment and Prithviraj Productions are bankrolling the flick.
It has an ensemble cast, including Anaswara Rajan, Nikhila Vimal, Yogi Babu, Jagadish, and Rekha Harris.
This is Tamil actor Yogi Babu’s debut in Malayalam.
Tovino Thomas will next be seen in Nadikar, directed by Jean-Paul.
The movie features Tovino, Soubin Shahir, and Bhavana in lead roles.
The actor appears as superstar David Padikkal and the story revolves around his character.
On 5 April, Malayalam Superstar Mammootty launched Nadikar teaser via his social media handles.
The teaser gives us glimpses into the life of an obsessed superstar named David Pallikkal.
The makers recently released the first single from Nadikar, which showcased the childhood of David Padikal.
Nadikar also casts Dhyan Sreenivasan, Shine Tom Chacko, Lal, Sreenath Bhasi, Veena Nandakumar, Suresh Krishna, Aju Varghese, and Anoop Menon in key roles.
Mythri Movie Makers and God Speed Productions are producing it. The film will hit the screens on 3 May.
Perumani is a brand new movie directed by Maju, who earlier helmed the critically acclaimed Appan (2022).
The teaser of Perumani, starring Sunny Wayne and Vinay Fort, was released recently.
The film will hit the theatres on 10 May.
Perumani is a fantasy drama revolving around a village called Perumani and its inhabitants.
It also stars Vinay Fort, Amal Rajdev, Deepa Thomas, Navas Vallikkunnu, Vijilesh Karayad, and Radhika Radhakrishnan.
The Malayalam movie is produced by Firoz Thairinil and Une Vie Movies in collaboration with Maju Movies, the director’s home production.
Kerala State Award winner Manesh Madhavan handled the cinematography.
Joel Kavi is the editor. Gopi Sunder is the music director.
Marivillin Gopurangal, directed by Arun Bose, will be released on 12 April.
The film features Indrajith Sukumaran, Sarjano Khalid, Shruti Ramachandran, and Win C Aloshious in crucial roles.
The Malayalam movie was supposed to hit the screens in March but was postponed for some reason.
