Synopsis: The body of Raj Kumar, the 28-year-old POCSO accused wanted for killing six people in Telangana’s Shabad, was found in Panjarla village on Monday, with a pesticide bottle recovered next to him. Kumar, who had been stalking a 17-year-old girl despite her family’s complaints, secured anticipatory bail on 12 June and went on to murder the girl, her mother and grandmother, before killing his own wife and two young sons on the night of 10 July.
A body believed to be that of Raj Kumar, the 28-year-old POCSO accused wanted for the murder of six people in Shabad, was found at Panjarla village in Kothur Mandal on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Monday, 13 July.
Reports suggest he allegedly consumed pesticide, with a bottle of pesticide being found next to his body.
The development follows police launching a massive manhunt to apprehend Kumar after he killed six people, including a minor girl and his own family members, in Daivaluda Village in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district on the night of Friday, 10 July.

The gory incident triggered widespread outrage, especially since Kumar went on the killing spree after having secured bail despite being booked under serious charges under the POCSO Act.
On Saturday, Future City Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi suspended Sub-Inspector Ramesh, citing negligence in duty.
The suspension followed a wave of protests outside the Shabad Police Station, where grieving relatives accused the officer along with Circle Inspector BK Reddy of ignoring earlier warnings that a family was under threat from Raj Kumar.
Raj Kumar had been stalking the now-slain 17-year-old girl, despite her mother’s desperate attempts to protect her child. The mother, it is learnt, even admitted her daughter in another college to shake Kumar off her trail – but in vain. He continued his attempts even as the girl – more than 10 years his junior – kept spurning his lewd advances.
Kumar had reportedly even installed CCTV surveillance cameras focusing her residence, and tracked her movements.
Fed up with his persistent menace, the girl’s family decided to approach the police, a move now seems to have turned fatal for them and Kumar’s family.
Police examine the spot where Raj Kumar’s body was found.
On 16 May, the girl’s mother and uncle went to the Shabad police with a complaint against Kumar. An FIR under sections 11 and 12 of the POCSO Act was registered against Kumar. Section 11 defines sexual harassment, Section 12 details the punishment. Though the FIR was registered for a grave offence, the police did nothing for 10 days.
Kumar soon secured bail and continued to stalk the minor.
It is alleged that Kumar even issued a death threat to the victim warning against denying his demands. He also allegedly claimed that he could “manage” anyone, including the police.
The bail that cleared the way
The FIR was filed on 16 May. Raj Kumar obtained anticipatory bail from the Rangareddy District court in LB Nagar on 12 June.
The bail order makes it clear that Raj Kumar was not arrested. The hon’ble justice directed him to first surrender and then pay the bond amount of ₹20,000 to secure the bail.
The bail was obtained on the grounds that the offences registered against him are punishable for less than 7 years and that most of the investigation was complete.
“When the petitioner is not taken into custody during the course of the investigation and material witnesses are already examined, the petition can be allowed granting anticipatory bail,” reads the order.
Kumar’s family had distanced themselves from him. He was not allowed to go home.
On Friday night, he went to the village in a car, barged into the victim’s house, killed her mother and grandmother. He then dragged the girl into the car and took her to a nearby lake.
The POCSO accused allegedly sexually assaulted her and slit her throat, police said. Visuals of Kumar dragging the minor girl from her house were captured on CCTV cameras.
Kumar then called his wife and asked to meet their children. Unsuspecting, his wife, Saritha, agreed. He then allegedly went on to kill Saritha and their sons, Parikshit (4), and Daivikshit (2).
Following the gruesome murders, the sub-inspector of Shabad police station was suspended. The gory incident has raised questions about how Kumar secured bail easily, and continued harassing the girl with impunity.
