Synopsis: A POCSO case accused murdered the mother and grandmother of the girl he had been stalking, sexually assaulted and slit her throat before going to his wife and children with murderous intention. Chilling details of his criminal obsession are emerging exposing how the system failed to protect a child and her family from a stalker.

Chilling details have emerged after the mass murders that shocked the Daivaluda Village in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district on Saturday, 11 July.

The suspect, 28-year-old Raj Kumar, had been stalking the now-slain 17-year-old girl, despite her mother’s desperate attempts to protect her child.

The mother, it is learnt, even admitted her daughter in another college to shake Kumar off her trail — but in vain. He continued his attempts even as the girl — more than 10 years his junior — kept spurning his lewd advances.

The details expose a fatal tale of criminal obsession aided by a system that failed to protect a minor girl and her family from a dangerous stalker.

CCTV to monitor minor victim

Sources suggest Kumar constantly monitored the girl. It has now emerged that he had even installed CCTV surveillance cameras focusing her residence, and tracked her movements.

Fed up with his persistent menace, the girl’s family decided to approach the police, a move now seems to have turned fatal for them and Kumar’s family.

On 16 May, the girl’s mother and uncle went to the Shabad police with a complaint against Kumar. An FIR under sections 11 and 12 of the POCSO Act was registered against Kumar.

Section 11 defines sexual harassment, Section 12 details the punishment. Though the FIR was registered for a grave offence, the police did nothing for 10 days.

When the girl’s family kept persisting, the police acted. On 26 May, the police arrested Kumar, who soon secured bail and continued to stalk the minor.

It is alleged that Kumar even issued a death threat to the victim warning against denying his demands. He also allegedly claimed that he could “manage” anyone, including the police.

Meanwhile, Kumar’s family had distanced themselves from him. He was not allowed to go home.

POCSO accused goes on killing spree

On Friday night, he went to the village in a car, barged into the victim’s house, killed her mother and grandmother. He then dragged the girl into the car and took her to a nearby lake. The POCSO accused allegedly sexually assaulted her and slit her throat, police said.

Visuals of Kumar dragging the minor girl from her house were captured on CCTV cameras.

Kumar then called his wife and asked to meet their children. Unsuspecting, his wife, Saritha, agreed. He then allegedly went on to kill Saritha and their sons, Parikshit (4), and Daivikshit (2). He fled the scene and has been missing since.

Following the gruesome murders, the sub-inspector of Shabad police station was suspended. The gory incident has raised questions about how Kumar secured bail easily, and continued harassing the girl with impunity.
