SS Karthikeya, the son of renowned director SS Rajamouli, bagged the Telugu dubbing rights of the Malayalam superhit film Premalu.

The Telugu dubbed version will be released on 8 March for Maha Shivaratri.

Set in Hyderabad, Premalu is a romantic-comedy entertainer.

Non-Malayalam-speaking audiences also appreciated the film for its comedy and love story, which were presented according to the taste of the new generation.

Premalu collected $50 crore in just 13 days and became the first blockbuster hit of 2024. The film’s collection crossed ₹60 crore as of Tuesday, 27 February.

Upon its release, the Malayalam movie garnered a positive response from critics and audiences alike.

It received good word-of-mouth publicity from the opening show, owing to which extra late-night shows were added in theatres.

It also received a good reception from the industry circles. Filmmakers Priyadarshan and Satyam Anthikad were all praises for the flick.

As expected, Premalu drew more crowds to cinema halls, though Mammootty’s Bramayugam became a top competitor at the box office.

Yash Raj Films bagged the distribution rights for the movie in the UK and Europe.

Directed by Girish AD, Premalu is produced by Bhavana Studios. Vishnu Vijay is the music director.
