Mohanlal’s ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ earns ₹3.16 crore in pre-sales

All eyes are now on Mohanlal’s Malaikottai Vaaliban, which is hitting the marquee on Thursday, 25 January.

The pan-India movie will have early shows starting from 6.30 am in the domestic market and from 6 am in international release stations.

In a video message, Mohanlal thanked all the overseas distributors for the excellent release strategy overseas.

Meanwhile, the advance bookings for Malaikottai Vaaliban are in full swing. According to trade experts, the movie has collected ₹3.16 crore in pre-sales.

The film is expected to collect around ₹5 crore on the opening day in India. If the response to the film is good, then it will do great business worldwide.

In Kerala, the theatres are organising 1,646 shows and have sold 1,88,306 tickets.

Malaikottai Vaaliban is charted in 600 locations outside India.

In the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the film is getting released in about 140 centres.

Earlier last year, Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha (2023) touched ₹3 crore in its pre-sales in India. However, the movie couldn’t keep up the pace at the box office.

Malaikottai Vaaliban is likely to give tough competition to the Bollywood movie Fighter — starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in the lead — at the Kerala Box office.

Mohanlal fans are in full spirits as the Malayalam superstar is basking in the success of his previous release Neru (2023), which collected ₹100 crore at the box office.

Genreless movie: Lijo Jose

During the promotions, Mohanlal said the genre of Malaikottai Vaaliban Indian has never been tested in Indian cinema.

According to its director Lijo Jose Pellissery, Malaikottai Vaaliban has no specific genre. “We have not tried to be genre-specific. We have used Lalettan (Mohanlal) to blend in it. The audience will have to make out the genre at the end,” he revealed.

Regarding the hype around the movie, Lijo Jose felt that it couldn’t be lowered. “It’s a natural process,” he quipped.

Malaikottai Vaaliban also casts Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait, and Manikandan Achari in significant roles.

It is jointly produced by John Mary Creative, Max Labs, Century Films, and Saregama.
