The period the film has been set in is not mentioned. It's shot in different terrains as it demands to be shot on a big canvas.
Mohanlal’s Malaikottai Vaaliban has huge expectations as the movie will be the joint work of the veteran actor with Lijo Jose Pellissery, who made path-breaking films.
Releasing on 25 January, the project has gained the maximum hype any Malayalam movie can get.
Mohanlal claims that the genre of Malaikottai Vaaliban Indian has never been tested in Indian cinema.
“Malaikottai Vaaliban is a movie in a genre that Indian cinema has never seen before. It has been shot beautifully and has some good music. I am totally satisfied with the movie as an actor. The technicians involved in the dubbing of other languages too agree with me,” the actor told the media at a promotional event in Kochi on Thursday, 18 January.
Mohanlal pointed out, “The period the film has been set is not mentioned. It’s shot in different terrains as it demands to be shot on a big canvas.”
He added, “What makes Malaikottai Vaaliban different is its presentation. It took one year to wrap up the project.”

About filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery, Mohanlal said Lijo is a director who respects cinema and has always delivered different kinds of films.
“Lijo’s films always have unusual climaxes. Malaikottai Vaaliban too has such elements,” Mohanlal noted.
The actor added, “The movie has a wonderful cast and it was definitely not written for me. I only became a part of it.”
Comparing the film with Amar Chithra Katha, Mohanlal said Malaikottai Vaaliban is a warrior.
“The film is a perfect theatrical watch. I want to watch it in a theatre as it showcases all emotions,” he said.
According to director Lijo Jose Pellissery, Malaikottai Vaaliban has no specific genre.
“We have not tried to be genre-specific. We have used Lalettan (Mohanlal) to blend in it. The audience will have to make out the genre at the end,” he said.
Regarding the hype around the movie, Lijo Jose felt that the hype couldn’t be lowered. “It’s a natural process,” he quipped.
When asked about the second part of Malaikottai Vaaliban, Lijo Jose said if there is a second part, it will be revealed only after the release of the movie.
Malaikottai Vaaliban casts Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait, and Manikandan Achari.
It is produced by John Mary Creative, Max Labs, Century Films and Saregama.
