Mammootty to team up with a debutant director for his next? (Facebook)
If reports are true, Mammootty is collaborating with a debutant director named Jithin K Jose for his next venture. The movie will be produced by the Malayalam superstar under his banner Mammootty Kampany.
In a career spanning five decades, the actor introduced many filmmakers. For instance, Mammootty’s Kannur Squad (2023) was helmed by debutant director Rony Varghese Raj. Similarly, Deeno Dennis is debuting in Malayalam as a director with Bazooka.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, who was expected to be part of this project, reportedly quit it due to his commitments. However, an official confirmation is awaited from the makers.
This yet-untitled film will start rolling after Mammootty wraps up his project with Gautham Vasudev Menon, who is debuting in Malayalam as a director. The Malayalam movie is touted to be a thriller. The cast includes Gokul Suresh, Lena, and Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum (2023)-fame Viji Venkatesh.
Interestingly, Gautham Menon is sharing the screen with Mammootty in Bazooka.
Mammootty delivered successive hits since 2022; Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam (2022), Rorschach (2022), Kannur Squad (2023), Kaathal-The Core (2023), Bramayugam (2024), and Turbo (2024) were all blockbusters.
According to trade analysts, the total box-office collections of Mammootty’s recent films have been put at a whopping ₹460 crore.
The actor’s yet-to-be-titled film under the direction of Mahesh Narayanan has been postponed to 2025 due to the busy schedules of Mammootty and Suresh Gopi. Fahadh Faasil and Kunchako Boban are the other two male leads.
Mammootty’s latest release, Turbo, was a box-office success and is currently available on SonyLIV.
Meanwhile, the makers of Bazooka announced that they would launch a teaser on 15 August. Interestingly, the anthology series Manorathangal will be premiered on ZEE5 on the same day.
Mammootty plays the protagonist in one of the nine stories in the web series—Kadugannawa Oru Yathra, directed by Renjith.
