Nunakuzhi first look revealed

The first-look poster of Nunakuzhi, directed by Jeethu Joseph, is finally out. The poster features Basil Joseph and Grace Antony sitting inside a police vehicle and in deep shock.

This is the first time that the actors collaborated with the Drishyam director. The film will hit the screens on 15 August.

Sharing the first-look poster of Nunakuzhi on Facebook, Jeethu Joseph wrote: “First look! Here’s a glimpse into our movie #Nunakuzhi. Get ready for an unforgettable journey!”

The film went on floors in November last year. The title poster featured the tagline: “Liar’s Day out” and a signpost with Malayalam adages and popular movie dialogues written on it.

Nunakuzhi also casts Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Baiju Santhosh, Saiju Kurup, and Aju Varghese in prominent roles.

The script was penned by KR Krishna Kumar, who worked with Jeethu Joseph for Kooman (2022) and 12th Man (2022). Both films were received well by the audience.

Satheesh Kurup, who collaborated with Jeethu Joseph several times, teamed up with him again. Vinayak VS is the editor and Linta Jeethu is the costume designer. Vintage Films and Yoodlee Films are bankrolling it.

Jeethu Joseph, Basil’s future films

Nunakuzhi is running high on expectations since Jeethu Joseph is returning to comedy after a long time.

The director scored a super hit with Dileep’s comedy entertainer My Boss (2012). However, Life of Josutty (2015) and Mr and Mrs Rowdy (2018) became average grossers.

Jeethu Joseph’s previous film was Mohanlal’s Neru (2023), a courtroom drama that grossed over ₹100 crore worldwide. His upcoming flick RAM, again with Mohanlal, is being shot in abroad.

Interestingly, Panorama Studios bought the international remake rights of Drishyam 1 & 2 from the original producers Aashirvad Cinemas. The production house joined hands with Gulfstream Pictures and JOAT Films for the Hollywood remake of the Drishyam franchise.

Further, Anthology Studios from South Korea is remaking the Drishyam film series in the Korean languageKumar Mangat Pathak and Jay Choi of Anthology Studios shared the development at the India Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival 2023.

Meanwhile, Basil Joseph did an exceptional job in the recent comedy films Falimy (2023) and Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil (2024). Last year, he played serious roles in Nna Thaan Case Kodu and Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham.

Basil is currently shooting for Praavinkoodu Shappu, directed by Sreeraj Sreenivasan. The actor-director is also helming a Bollywood film based on Shaktimaan, headlined by Ranveer Singh.
