Tamil Nadu BJP Chief K Annamalai on Thursday, 19 January, came to party colleague MP Tejasvi Surya’s rescue and vehemently defended him claiming he did not open the Indigo airlines ATR emergency exit door.

Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday had stated the door was opened by mistake and Tejasvi had even apologised for it.

“He had rested his hand on the door when he noticed it had come loose. He informed the crew immediately. He did not apologise but gave an incident report,” Annamalai, who was travelling with Surya on the flight, maintained.

Annamalai later said Tejasvi, however, apologised to the passengers for the flight delay while also telling them he was not at fault for the emergency exit door issue.
