Synopsis: The BRS has begun preparations for the upcoming Graduates’ MLC elections in Telangana, with working president KT Rama Rao chairing a strategy meeting with party leaders from the erstwhile Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Mahbubnagar districts. The party has also sought clarity from the Chief Electoral Officer on the schedule for preparing fresh electoral rolls for the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituencies.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has begun laying the groundwork for the upcoming Graduates’ MLC elections in Telangana, with working president KT Rama Rao and deputy leader in the legislature T Harish Rao chairing a strategy meeting with party leaders at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, 22 September.
The meeting brought together former ministers and senior leaders from the erstwhile Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Mahbubnagar districts to chart out the party’s approach to the graduate constituency polls, with voter enrolment identified as the immediate priority.
The BRS is expected to hold similar consultations with sitting and former MLAs from the undivided Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda districts in the coming days, as the party works out a district-wise plan of action.
Party leaders said they were confident of a BRS win, citing alleged widespread resentment against the Congress government among students, unemployed youth, government employees and graduates. The leadership directed cadres to treat the elections as a matter of prestige.

BRS MLCs L Ramana and Dr Dasoju Sravan Kumar, along with former MLC Karne Prabhakar, submitted a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Telangana, on the same day, seeking clarification on the schedule for preparing fresh electoral rolls for the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates’ Constituencies.
Citing a CEO press note dated 17 September, the party pointed out that while the qualifying date for the fresh rolls is 1 November and the deadline for Form-18 applications is 6 November, the Final Electoral Roll under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is due only on 9 November.
The party asked the CEO to clarify whether applicants would need to furnish EPIC or other electoral roll details while filing Form-18. It said voters might face difficulties because the Form-18 deadline falls before the SIR final roll is published, and requested that the schedule be revised if necessary.
