On the occasion of World Liver Day, 19 April, hepatologist from Kochi, Abby Philip aka Liverdoc, a renowned expert in liver health, has taken to social media to share his top 15 lifestyle tips that promise to keep your liver happy and healthy.

From dietary advice to physical activity recommendations, these pointers are designed not just to maintain liver function but to enhance your overall health.

Whether it’s adopting a Mediterranean diet or getting enough sleep, each suggestion is a step towards a healthier liver.

Here are 15 things that according to Liverdoc, your liver will love you to do.

  • Brisk walks at least 150 minutes a week.
  • Run at least once a week.
  • Black coffee, no sugar, three cups a day.
  • Avoid alcohol (including homoeopathy) and tobacco.
  • Sleep for at least 7 hours in a day.
  • Avoid herbal supplements.
  • Get your Hepatitis B vaccine shot/booster
  • Limit added sugars and ultra-processed food.
  • Avoid sugar-sweetened beverages.
  • Lose weight.
  • Follow a Mediterranean diet (sans alcohol).
  • Whole eggs–five in a week if any cardiometabolic disease.
  • Whole eggs–seven in a week if no cardiometabolic disease
  • Include fermented food portions in your daily diet.
  • Listen to real clinical doctors.
