Even before he started his big screen journey, Kiccha Sudeep tried his luck with an advertisement. In 1999, he landed a leading role in a Kannada serial titled Premada Kadambari. It ran for a few weeks.

Later, Sudeep did supporting roles in movies — the first being Thayavva (1997) and then Prathyartha. (1999).

Before Thayavva, his earlier film endeavours were Brahma and O Kusuma Baale, both of which did not see the light of the day.

Sparsha (2000) — directed by Sunil Kumar Desai and produced by Kiccha Sudeep’s father Sanjeev Rao under Sarovar Productions— marked his cinematic journey as a full-fledged actor in a leading role.

Technically, Kiccha Sudeep first faced the camera on the big screen for Brahma, a Kannada film starring himself alongside Rebel Star Ambareesh.

The unfinished film haunted R Chandru’s Brahma (2014), which featured Real Star Upendra in a dual role.

Wondering who R Chandru is? Yes, he is the same filmmaker who made Kabzaa (2023), which failed to make an impression at the pan-India level despite getting mixed responses from critics and audiences.

“Seems like just a few years back that I stepped onto the floor of Bramha at Kanteerava Studio, with Ambareesh Mama, to face the camera. It’s already 28 years! Feeling humbled. I just have love, respect and a lot of gratitude to everyone for this priceless gift,” Kiccha Sudeep said in a heartfelt note for completing 28 years in films.

Back to the original Brahma, a financier of the unfinished Kannada film sought a stay on R Chandru’s Brahma in 2014 because he financed the unreleased movie and owned the title.

However, R Chandru’s Brahma saw the day of the light after the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) intervened just before the film’s release.

Huchcha, released in 2001, made Kiccha Sudeep an overnight star in the Kannada film industry.

Post-Huchcha, Sudeep achieved many glorious feats as a star actor. His stardom reached beyond the Kannada film industry. As one of the successful pan-India actors from Sandalwood, he has his footprints also in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil industries.

Kiccha Sudeep’s latest pan-India venture Max, the shooting of which is underway, is scheduled to hit the screens this year.

Over the years, he turned into a TV presenter and film director, too.

A couple of days ago, the actor achieved another milestone by successfully hosting the popular reality show Bigg Boss Kannada on the small screen for a consecutive 10th time.

Following the humongous success of Huchcha, Kiccha Sudeep headlined many hit films.

His first ever non-Kannada film is Phoonk, a supernatural horror film directed by Ram Gopal Varma.

So far, he acted in at least 12 non-Kannada movies, including a few in which he made cameo appearances like in the 2015-released Baahubali: The Beginning as Aslam Khan.

Eega (2012), a fantasy action film by SS Rajamouli, brought immense fame to Sudeep for his stupendous acting skills in an antagonist role.

Kiccha Sudeep has directed six films, all in Kannada. My Autograph, (2006), a straight remake of Cheran’s Autograph (2004) marked his directorial debut.

His next directorial venture is reportedly being produced by KRG Studios and will be Sudeep’s 48th Kannada film.

This apart, the actor produced a few ventures under the banner of Kichcha Creations, including a TV series titled “Vaarasdaara” in 2016.

Multiple cameo roles, playback singing, presenter, and his love for cricket are just a few shades of Sudeep in his real and reel life in these 28 years.

Well, many more milestones to achieve!
