Kamal Haasan's 'Thug Life' to be released in November? (X)
Thug Life, the action-drama directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Kamal Haasan, is one of Tamil cinema’s most anticipated projects. With its extensive cast and crew, it has generated significant buzz.
Recent updates suggest Thug Life is nearing completion and is set to release in the latter half of 2024.
Mani Ratnam and his team plan to complete filming Thug Life by August 2024, with about 75 percent of the film already finished.
Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan, and Ashok Selvan, key cast members, will join the final shoot in Russia. The remaining 25 percent of the film is scheduled to be shot there, and if all goes as planned, shooting will wrap by the end of August.
Post-production has already started, and a major update, likely the teaser, is expected soon.
Kamal Haasan’s birthday is on 7 November, and if all goes as planned, Thug Life might be released around that time. This would be a treat for the actor’s fans, who have been disappointed with the response to Indian 2.
Siva Ananth, co-producing Thug Life with Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan, recently discussed the project with India Today.
He expressed enthusiasm, noting that the film is progressing well and that the team is excited. Describing Thug Life as a “fabulous ride,” Ananth is confident that the film will be fantastic and well-received by audiences.
The film’s shoot began in January this year. Siva Ananth stated that while they haven’t set a specific completion date, they are committed to delivering a high-quality experience.
He explained, “We’re in the middle of filming and don’t yet have a wrap-up date. We’re enjoying this phase and will make a formal announcement once the shoot is complete.”
Asked about special plans for the Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam reunion, Siva Ananth reassured that there’s nothing to worry about. “We’ve included many unique elements in the film. These will be evident in theatres.”
Thug Life, also featuring Trisha Krishnan, Nasser, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sanya Malhotra, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, and Ali Fazal, reunites Mani Ratnam with Kamal Haasan after their 1987 blockbuster Nayakan.
Jayam Ravi and Dulquer Salmaan were originally cast in the film but left due to scheduling conflicts. Silambarasan replaced Dulquer Salmaan and Ashok Selvan took over Jayam Ravi’s role.
Kamal Haasan stars as Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar, with the title announcement video showcasing him in an action-packed role. Thug Life’s music is composed by AR Rahman.
