'Kanguva' trailer out. (X)
The trailer for Suriya’s Kanguva was unveiled on Monday, 12 August, coinciding with writer-filmmaker Siva’s birthday. The film marks Bollywood actors Bobby Deol and Disha Patani’s Tamil debut.
The trailer for Kanguva, lasting two minutes and 37 seconds, hints at a period-action film filled with intense warfare, historical elements, and tribal rivalry.
Bobby Deol plays a visually impaired, ruthless tribe leader who aims to conquer Suriya’s Kanguva and his people. Suriya, portrayed as a fierce and unstoppable tribal warrior, is destined to lead and protect his tribe.
The trailer showcases Suriya’s versatility, with powerful expressions and dynamic body language. However, Disha Patani, who plays the female lead, is noticeably absent from the trailer.
The narrative seems to explore the clash between two tribal factions led by Suriya and Bobby Deol, with hints of foreign invaders arriving on large ships, suggesting a broader historical context.
The trailer ends with a glimpse of a mysterious character, adding to the intrigue.
The Kanguva trailer also features captions like “Primal Courage,” “Raw Rage,” and “Unleash Your Tribal Instincts.”
Despite the trailer’s focus on tribal warfare, it holds back from revealing another storyline previously hinted at in the promotional posters, where Suriya is seen in two distinct avatars—a tribal warrior and a modern character.
Suriya shared the trailer on X, expressing pride in the team’s efforts, further heightening anticipation for the film’s release.
The Kanguva trailer also highlights the South Indian film industry’s commitment to pushing creative boundaries and delivering grand, unique content.
Suriya’s character is depicted as a fierce daredevil, marking his powerful entry into the pan-India market. However, some viewers noted similarities between Kanguva’s visuals and those of the Baahubali (2015 & 2018) franchise.
