'Kanguva' is the 42nd movie of Suriya. The historical film features Bollywood actor Disha Patani as the female lead.

Tamil superstar Suriya’s next feature film Kanguva will hit the theatres early this year.
Kanguva — billed as a “mighty valiant saga” — is written and directed by filmmaker Siva. The makers earlier released a glimpse and a first-look poster of the movie.
On Tuesday, 16 January, the makers released a second-look poster, which hints that Suriya plays a double role in the film.
The title poster released by Studio Green says, “A Destiny Stronger than Time. The Past, Present and Future”. This gives the impression that the movie is set in different periods.
The film is backed by Studio Green’s KE Gnanavelraja and UV Creations’ Vamsi-Pramod.
Director Siva had earlier said he is looking forward to finishing production on the film soon.
“We are delighted to announce the title of Suriya 42 as Kanguva, who is a man with the power of fire, majestically represented by Suriya on the screen, which will be a memorable, majestic, unique, and interesting experience for cinema lovers. We will complete the shooting of the film and announce the release date at the earliest,” the filmmaker had said.

The movie is shot across Goa, Chennai, and various other locations.
Kanguva will be released in 3D in 10 different languages. Devi Sri Prasad will compose the music for the film.
Suriya — who won the Best Actor National Award last year for Soorarai Pottru (2020) — will soon start filming for Vaadivaasal with filmmaker Vetrimaaran.
He will also make a cameo appearance in the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, starring Akshay Kumar.
