Raayan release date anounced

Sun Pictures, the makers of Raayan, announced on X that Dhanush’s 50th film will be released next month (June).

Furthermore, the social media post stated that the album’s first single will be out on 9 May.

Besides headlining Raayan, Dhanush is wielding the megaphone for the movie.

The gangster drama also features Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, SJ Suryah, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Kalidas Jayaram, and Dhanush’s Captain Miller (2023) co-star Sundeep Kishan in pivotal roles.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Raayan will be released in theatres on 13 June. However, an official word is awaited.

It will hit the screens in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

Given that Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 will be delayed until July, it appears that Raayan will open in theatres without facing any significant competition.

Dhanush’s debut directorial venture was Pa Paandi (2017), a film that included an extended cameo by him. Raj Kiran, Revathi, Madonna Sebastian, Prasanna, and Chaya Singh played crucial characters in it.

The music director of Rayaan is AR Rahman, who previously worked with Dhanush on Raanjhanaa (2013), Maryan (2013), and Atrangi Re (2021). They have also teamed up for the upcoming Hindi flick Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Aanand L Rai.

The shooting of Raayan was wrapped up in December last year.

With Peter Hein on stunt choreography, the film has Om Prakash as the cinematographer and Prasanna GK  as the editor.

Dhanush is also directing another film titled Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam. Many rising stars, including Pavish, Rabiya Khatoon, Anikha Surendran, Priya Prakash Varrier, Ramya Ranganathan, Venkatesh Menon, and Mathew Thomas are featured in the romance drama.

The actor’s home banner, Wunderbar Films, is bankrolling it. It has a music score by GV Prakash Kumar.

On the acting front, Dhanush headlines the Ilaiyaraaja biopic. Arun Matheswaran, who helmed Captain Miller, is directing it, and the maestro himself will compose the soundtrack.

Further, Dhanush is a part of Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula. The film, which went on floors recently, has Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles.

Devi Sri Prasad is the music director.

According to reports, Kubera is a social drama set in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums.
