Rajinikanth’s remuneration for 'Lal Salaam' becomes talk of the town

Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film Lal Salaam has brought along speculation about his remuneration for the movie.

Following the success of Jailer (2023), the buzz is now centred on Rajinikanth’s latest flick at the South Indian box office. The topic is causing quite a stir among social media platforms.

Rajinikanth has reportedly demanded a staggering ₹40 crore for his extended cameo in Lal Salaam. Despite the relatively short duration of 40 minutes on screen, his fee amounts to a remarkable ₹1 crore per minute.

This hefty sum has now become the talk of the town as the Superstar commands immense buzz for any film.

However, it is essential to recognise that the minute-wise breakdown should not be misunderstood. Shooting for a 30-minute segment can entail 10-15 days of filming. So, it is not easy for an actor of that stature to commit himself to a brief appearance.

Meanwhile, netizens feel that Rajinikanth’s hefty fee for his cameo underscores his endearing charm on the silver screen.

Lal Salaam is a Tamil-language sports drama directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth.

It is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions.

The film stars Rajinikanth in an extended cameo as Moideen Bhai, with Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles.

The other supporting cast includes Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar, and Thambi Ramaiah. Kapil Dev did a cameo in the flick.

The music is scored by AR Rahman. The cinematography is by Vishnu Rangasamy. The editing by B Pravin Baaskar.

Lal Salaam received mixed reviews from critics following its release on Friday, 9 February.
