Rajinikanth clarifies his daughter Aishwarya’s Sanghi statement

Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth has given a clarification about a statement made by his director-daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth during the audio launch of their upcoming film Lal Salaam.

Aishwarya spoke about her father being termed “Sanghi” by a group of people.

On Monday, 28 January, Rajinikanth supported his daughter’s statement by saying that she never used “Sanghi” in a bad sense.

He was addressing the media outside the Chennai airport.

During the audio launch of Lal Salaam, Aishwarya said, “I was told that it is a term (Sanghi) used to call people who support a particular political party. Rajinikanth is not a ‘Sanghi’.”

She added, “My father being called a ‘Sanghi’ because he us inclined towards spiritual belief is not true.”

Aishwarya Rajinikanth also stated that if the superstar was a “Sanghi,” he wouldn’t have chosen to be a part of a film like Lal Salaam.

In the movie, Rajinikanth plays a Muslim named Moideen Bhai.

The teaser of Lal Salaam gives a glimpse into the story, which is about a political game that creates issues among religious communities.

Lal Salaam casts Vikranth and Vishnu Vishal in the lead. The film also features legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev in a cameo role.

AR Rahman has scored the music.

It is all set for release in theatres on 9 February.
