Mammootty’s Turbo will be released in Arabic version on 2 August. The makers claimed that theirs is the first Indian movie to be released in Arabic.
Mammootty’s character in the film, Turbo Jose, has been renamed Turbo Jasim in the Arabic version. The dubbing works were completed in three weeks with the help of 17 dubbing artists.
In June, Mammootty launched a teaser of the Arabic version at the Turbo success meet in Sharjah. He also thanked the dubbing artists for their brilliant work.
Addressing the success meet, Mammootty pointed out that the Arabic version would serve as a cultural meet between the Malayalees and the Emiratis.
Turbo has an ensemble cast, including Kannada actor Raj B Shetty and Telugu actor Sunil, who played pivotal roles. Anjana Jayaprakash is the female lead.
The Malayalam movie also has the voice of Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi in the climax. His voice gives hope for a second part and also hints at Vijay Sethupathi’s presence in the sequel. However, the makers haven’t confirmed this so far.
Following the tremendous success of Turbo, Mammootty thanked Vijay Sethupathi for lending his voice. The movie was a super hit at the box office. It will be streamed on SonyLIV on 9 August.
Released on 23 May, Turbo witnessed an overwhelming response from the audience. It earned around ₹70 crore from the global box office in less than a week. It was released in over 70 countries, a first of its kind for a Malayalam movie.
