Prithviraj Sukumaran in conversation with real-life Najeeb

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) is enjoying a good theatrical run across the world. The movie grossed over ₹65 crore worldwide in four days and is racing towards the ₹100-croe club.

Directed by Blessy, the movie is headlined by Prithviraj. He played the role of Najeeb, the central character of the movie inspired by the bestselling novel of the same name written by Benyamin.

On Monday, 1 April, the makers of Aadujeevitham unveiled a video where the real-life Najeeb and Prithviraj had a heartfelt conversation about the film and the real-life experience of Najeeb.

The 12-minute video went viral on social media. Netizens and fans appreciated the conversation and described it as a thoughtful interaction. Here are the excerpts:

Najeeb is a son of god: Prithviraj

The video began with Prithviraj describing his meeting with Najeeb as a divine experience. Interestingly, the Malayalam actor did not meet Najeeb before the shooting of Aadujeevitham.

“I have played only two to three real-life characters in my career. But this is the first time I met the person I portrayed in my movie. This is truly a divine experience,” he said.

Prithviraj called Najeeb a son of God. “You are the chosen one. Many people might have undergone painful moments. But you were chosen to tell the world your story.”

During their chat, the actor asks Najeeb if he carries a watch. Najeeb replied that he owns a watch but his experiences in the desert changed him. He revealed that he wasn’t aware of the surroundings.

In the movie, Najeeb gives away his watch to his old friend.

When asked if he was aware of how years passed as the desert wears the same look in the morning, afternoon and evening, Najeeb replied that he lost track of time and wasn’t aware of how months and years passed. “I was only aware of the sunrise and the sunset,” he quipped.

Real-life vs Reel-life Najeeb

Najeeb, who reached Saudi Arabia in the 1990s, said he never thought he could escape the place.

He revealed that he even tried to die. “I thought the snakes would bite me at night if I lay in the sand. But that didn’t happen at all! I think God wanted me to stay alive. Though I thought of dying, my thoughts revolved around my eight-month-pregnant wife and my unborn child (in the 90s),” he recalled.

Najeeb stated that he also thought of killing his Arbab owner but he knew he would get caught.

To a question, Najeeb admitted that after losing hope, he did feel like he became one among the flock of goats he was rearing.

Prithviraj said during the shooting in 2019, he was not okay with goats roaming around him as they emanated a foul smell. But, when the shoot resumed in 2020, the actor was okay filming with the livestock and got used to them.

The Malayalam actor pointed out that there are many differences between real-life Najeeb and reel-life Najeeb but there were many similarities in the thoughts of real-life Najeeb and reel-life Najeeb.
