Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal are all set to come together once again for Mahesh Narayan’s upcoming movie. The veterans are known for their multi-starred projects. They shared the screen in over 50 films.
The buzz regarding the project started after a picture of Mahesh Narayanan and producers Anto Joseph and CV Sarathi meeting Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Temple Trees (PM’s Office in Colombo) came out on 15 September.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Gunawardena expressed his gratitude for choosing Sri Lanka as the film with two superstars has the potential to boost foreign exchange earnings and promote tourism.
The meeting was also attended by MP Yadamini Gunawardena, Advisor Sugeeswara Senadhira, and other key figures.
The shooting is expected to take place in Sri Lanka for 30 days, while additional filming is scheduled in Kerala, Delhi, and London.
A year ago, news broke out that Mahesh Narayanan was helming a film where Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban would play the key roles. The movie will go onto the sets in 2025.
The project was supposed to be shot in Sri Lanka. And now, reports suggest that Mohanlal replaced Suresh Gopi in the film.
It is to be noted that BJP MP Suresh Gopi earlier sought permission from the top BJP leadership to allow him to act in films. While there is no clarity on his availability, it is to be seen how he will manage acting and his responsibilities as a MoS in the Union Cabinet.
Interestingly, Suresh Gopi has been signed up for around 20 films.
Meanwhile, amid the heated discussions on the Justice Hema Committee Report in August, a picture shared by Mammootty’s and Mohanal’s production houses gave hints that both actors will soon work together in a movie.
The new reports suggest that Mohanal’s Aashirvad Films and Mammootty’s Mammotty Kampany will produce this Mahesh Narayanan film. However, an official confirmation about the project is still awaited.
Mammootty was last seen in Turbo (2024), directed by Vysakh. His next release is Bazooka, which is expected to be released soon.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is gearing up for his directorial debut with the much-anticipated film Barroz, which will feature him in a significant role. He is also working on his upcoming films L360 and L2: Empuraan.
