The latest buzz in Malayalam cinema that Mohanlal and Mammootty will work together after 11 years has left the fans of both actors overjoyed. Interestingly, the netizens are keeping themselves busy with fan theories about the film’s storyline and genre.
Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas and Mammootty’s Mammootty Kampany are likely to team up for this film.
Speculations about the project emerged soon after Antony Perumbavoor—Mohanlal’s close associate and Aashirvad Cinemas’s founder—posted pictures of him with Mammootty and Mohanlal from the recent stage show organised by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) on social media.
Mammootty Kampany also shared the same photos on its social media handles with the caption, “Aashirvad Cinemas and Mammootty Kampany” with a handshake emoji hinting at a collaboration. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
The post built huge anticipation for the movie as Mammootty and Mohanlal’s collaboration has been long overdue.
Reports say the superstars are planning to work together on two projects in 2025 and this could be one of them. Interestingly, this could also mark the first collaboration between Mammootty Kampany and Aashirvad Cinemas.
Meanwhile, a few fans predicted that Mohanlal would play a key role in Mammootty’s untitled movie with director Mahesh Narayanan. The film will start rolling next year. It also features Suresh, Gopi, Fahadh Faasill, and Kunchacko Boban in the main roles.
Mammootty appeared in a cameo role in Narasimham (2000), the maiden production venture of Aashirvad Cinemas headlined by Mohanlal.
The two actors worked together in over 50 films in their career spanning over four decades. The last time they shared the screen was for Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty (2013) directed by Ranjith.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is busy with L360, where Shobana plays the female lead. This Tharun Moorthy directorial is produced by Rejaputhra Visual Media.
His directorial debut, Barroz, is all set to release in theatres on 3 October. L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is another most anticipated movie.
On the other hand, Mammootty is shooting for Gautham Vasudev Malayalam’s Malayalam debut directorial produced by Mammootty Kampany.
The veteran actor’s immediate release is Bazooka with debutant director Deeno Dennis. A teaser of the movie was recently released which showcased Mammootty in a stylish look. Bazooka is expected to be a game thriller.
