Alappuzha Gymkhana to release on 10 April

Naslen Gafoor and Khalid Rahman’s sports drama,  Alappuzha Gymkhana, is gearing up for a festival release ahead of Vishu on 10 April.

Apart from Naslen, the film also has actors Lukman Avaran, Franco Francis, rapper Baby Jean, Shiva Hariharan, Shon Joy, Karthik, Nanda Nishanth, and Noila Francy in key roles.

The director makes films of different genres. While Thallumala was an action entertainer, Love was a romantic drama.

The movie features Anagha Maya Ravi as the female lead. Khalid Rahman wrote the script, too.

Sharing the news, the makers wrote on Instagram: “Schoolboys. Boxing. A fight for glory! Witness the madness from April 10th in cinemas!”

The film is set to compete alongside Mammootty’s Bazooka and Basil Joseph’s Marana Mass.

The music will be composed by Vishnu Vijay, who scored superhit songs for Premalu (2024), Falimy (2023), and Thallumala (2022).

Shyju Khalid is the cinematographer for Alappuzha Gymkhana.

According to Cinema Express, Alappuzha Gymkhana is about “Lost in love triangles and an identity crisis, 19-year-old Jojo stumbles into amateur boxing, where he and his misfit friends fight for college admission, self-discovery, and a knockout punch at life. A heartwarming sports comedy, this is a knockout journey of laughter, bruises, and finding one’s inner champion.”

Other projects in the pipeline

Apart from Alappuzha Gymkhana, Naslen is also working under Arun Dominic. The yet-to-be-titled film is being bankrolled by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer films and has Kalyani Priyadarshan opposite him.

Naslen’s last film, I Am Kathalan, directed by Girish AD, released in October 2024, opened to mixed reviews.

On the other hand, Naslen rose to fame with his box office hit Premalu (2024). The film, set in Hyderabad, was a coming-of-age story of a Malayali couple.
