Kannada actor Yash has officially started shooting for his new project, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. He announced the news on 8 August via social media, sharing a picture with the post and captioning it, “The journey begins.”
The film’s shoot began in Bengaluru, according to the Toxic PR team.
Yash, born on 8 January, deemed the date 8/8/2024 particularly auspicious to begin the Toxic shooting. Symbolically, the first shot was initiated by set boy Sunil, marking the official start of filming. Rajeev Ravi is the cinematographer for Toxic.
Yash will be showcasing a new hairstyle in the film. It is his 19th film.
The anticipation is high due to the tremendous success of the KGF films (2018 & 2022), directed by Prashanth Neel.
Geetu Mohandas, who directed the critically acclaimed Malayalam film Moothon (2019) with Nivin Pauly and Roshan Mathew, is at the helm of this project. Her first film was Liar’s Dice (2013), which featured Geetanjali Thapa and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Toxic, a multilingual action thriller, was first announced in December 2023. Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations are jointly producing it.
The Kannada film is set to release on 10 April 2025, and has been described as “an action-oriented drama centred on the drug mafia.”

There have been various speculations about the film’s female leads. Reports suggested that Tara Sutaria would play Yash’s love interest in the flick, but she responded in July with a cryptic Instagram post denying the rumours.
Tara Sutaria wrote that recent articles about her involvement in a project were false and stated that she would share updates when there is something official.
Previously, there were rumours about Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sai Pallavi, Shruti Haasan, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, and Nayanthara being part of the cast, although official confirmation is pending.
In response to these speculations, the makers, in March, requested the public to avoid believing unverified casting theories.
