Sandalwood is awaiting a bunch of varied films this July. While several big banners are launching their new projects with star actors in the lead, several newcomers, including actors and directors, continue to make their on-screen debut.
The first quarter of 2023 remained dull for Sandalwood due to the Assembly elections and the IPL cricket season. As many as 100-plus movies, mostly featuring newcomers, have hit the screens so far.
However, only a couple of them managed to do break-even business at the box office. Meanwhile, let’s take a quick look at the July releases:
Kshetrapati (Farmer in Sanskrit) is directed by engineer-turned-filmmaker Srikant Katagi.
As the title suggests, the Kannada film starring Naveen Shankar of Gultoo (2018) fame highlights the agrarian crisis.
Following the success of Hondisi Bareyiri (2023) and Daali Dhananjaya’s Gurudev Hoysala (2023), Naveen returns for a hat-trick at the box office.
He is paired opposite Archana Jois of KGF (2018) fame. Ravi Basrur is the music director.
Kshetrapati is scheduled to release in July.

Director Mahesh Babu, who directed successful films like Aakash (2005), Arasu (2007), and Abhay (2009), returns this July with Aparoopa (Unique), featuring newcomers Sughosh and Hritika in the lead.
According to the makers, the new-age love story revolves around self-pride and its consequences in life.
Sughosh, who acted in Mahesh Babu’s previous venture Athiratha (2017), makes his debut as a hero here.
The Kannada film also marks the debut of Hritika, the daughter of Telugu actress Aamani’s brother, as a female lead. Aamani was last seen opposite late Vishnuvardhan in Appaji (1996).
Aparoopa is scheduled to hit the screens on 14 July. Produced under the banner of Suggi Cinemas, it is distributed by KRG Studios.
