Watchlist: Check out the list of most-awaited Tamil films releasing this July

Sivakarthikeyan is believed to play a cartoonist in this action-fantasy movie.

Vidhu Ayyanna is the cinematographer and Bharath Sankar is the music director.

Philomin Raj is the editor and Kumar Gangappan is the art director.

What has also raised expectations from Maaveeran is director Madonne Ashwin winning a National Award for his previous film Mandela (2021). One other highlight of the film is that popular Hollywood stunt director Yannick Ben choreographed the stunts.

Kolai

Director Balaji K Kumar’s upcoming investigative thriller Kolai, featuring actor Vijay Antony in the lead, is another major Tamil film to watch out for this July.

It is about the investigation that takes place after a model named Leila (Meenakshi Chaudhary) gets murdered inside her locked apartment. The movie is slated to hit screens on 21 July.

Assisted by a character named Sandhya (Ritika Singh), Vijay Antony begins to look for flaws committed by the criminal. He believes that there is nothing called a “perfect” murder.

The gripping investigative thriller will also feature Murali Sharma and Radhika in key roles. While Murali Sharma plays an agent named Aditya, Radhika plays the boss, Rekha.

John Vijay plays a cop named Mansoor Ali Khan in Kolai. Siddhartha Shankar plays Sathish, the boyfriend of Leila.

Sources say that the story of Kolai was finalised after the director wrote over 40 drafts of it in five years!

The cinematography is by Sivakumar Vijayan and the music is by Girish Gopalakrishnan.

LGM

LGM, an acronym for Let’s Get Married, is among the most-awaited films of the year. Reason: It has been produced by none other than Sakshi Singh Dhoni, the wife of ace cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

This is the first Tamil feature film that is being produced by Sakshi’s production house, Dhoni Entertainment. Needless to say, expectations are running high.

LGM, which is scheduled to hit the screens on 14 July, features actors Harish Kalyan, Nadiya, and Ivana in the lead.

The movie also features Yogi Babu and Mirchi Vijay.

Interestingly, director Ramesh Thamilmani himself scored the music for this romantic comedy.

Partner

Director Manoj Damodharan’s long-awaited film Partner, featuring actors Aadhi Pinisetty, Hansika Motwani and Pallak Lalwani in the lead, is also likely to release this July.

Sources say that efforts are underway to get the Santhosh Dhayanidhi musical, which has been waiting to hit screens for over a year now, released this July.

Although the exact date hasn’t been announced, the grapevine has it that Partner has a high chance of hitting the screens in July.

The movie also casts Yogi Babu, Pandiarajan, Robo Shankar, John Vijay, Ravi Mariya, and Tiger Thangadurai in key roles.

Aneethi

Ace director Vasanthabalan’s next, Aneethi, featuring actor Arjun Das in the lead, is also likely to be released this July.

Written and directed by Vasanthabalan — who is known for having made several critically acclaimed superhits including Veyil (2022) and Angadi Theru (2010) — the film will have music by GV Prakash Kumar and dialogues by SK Jeeva.

The cinematography is by AM Edwin Sakay and the editing is by Ravikumar M.

As in the case of Partner, the date of release hasn’t been officially announced. However, sources in the industry say that efforts are on to release it in July.
