Malayalam July watchlist

In July, quite a few promising films are scheduled for release in Malayalam.

While Madhura Manohara Moham (and Neymar did good business at the box office recently, experimental films like Pendulum, O. Baby, and Amala didn’t do wonders. Even Fahadh Faasil’s Dhoomam didn’t connect well with the majority of the audience and critics.

As a result, the Malayalam film industry is pinning its hopes on the July releases. Movies like Padmini, Chaver, and Valatty have already piqued the interest of audiences.

Now, without further delay, let’s check the Malayalam watchlist for July:

Padmini

Padmini is directed by Senna Hegde who earlier helmed films like Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam (2021) and 1744 White Alto (2022).

The movie is scripted by Deepu Pradeep. It features Kunchako Boban, Aparna Balamurali and Madonna Sebastian in the lead roles and will be released on 7 July.

It is produced by Prasobh Krishna and Suvin K Varkey under the banner of Little Big Films. Jakes Bejoy composed the music. Sreeraj Raveendran is the cinematographer.

Voice of Sathyanathan

Dileep’s Voice of Sathyanathan is a high-anticipated movie to be released on 14 July. Directed by Raffi, it is expected to be a comedy entertainer.

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher will play an important role in the movie.

Apart from Dileep, Voice of Sathyanathan also casts Joju George, Makrand Deshpande, Jagapathi Babu, Sminu Sijo, Anusree, and Johny Antony in pivotal roles.

Chaver

Chaver is a mass entertainer

Tinu Pappachan’s Chaver featuring Kunchacko Boban, Antony Varghese, and Arjun Ashokan will be released on 20 July.

The title poster, which showcased its characters in the midst of a knife, jeep, and Theyyam (folk art), drew the attention of one and all.

Chaver is Tinu’s third film after Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil (2018) and Ajagajantharam (2021). Interestingly, both were action films.

Chaver is produced by Arun Narayan and Venu Kunnappilly under the banners of Arun Narayan Productions, and Kavya Film Company.

The script is written by actor-director Joy Mathew and the cinematography is by Jinro George.

Nishad Yusuf is the editor and Justin Varghese is the music composer.

Valatty

Valatty is a Malayalam movie directed by debutant Devan. Produced by Vijay Babu under his banner Friday Film House, the film is made from the perspective of dogs.

Mainstream actors like Roshan Mathew, Aju Varghese, Soubin Shahir, Raveena, Ranjini Haridas, and Surabhi Lakshmi lent their voices to the dogs in the flick.

Valatty also features actors Vijay Babu and Srikanth Murali. The cinematography is by Vishnu Panicker. The movie is all set to release on 14 July.

18 Plus

18 Plus has a bunch of young actors

18 Plus is directed by Arun D Jose. He debuted with Jo and Jo (2022). Superhit combo Naslen and Mathew Thomas are teaming up again after their recent successful movie Neymar (2023).

Naslen K Gafoor, Mathew Thomas, and Nikhila Vimal, who earlier acted in Jo and Jo, are also part of 18 Plus.

18 Plus is written by Arun D and Raveesh Nath and produced by Falooda and Reels Magic.

Satheesh Kurup is the cinematographer and Christo Xavier is the music director. Chaman Chakko is the editor.

It is releasing in theatres on 7 July.
