Reports circulated that Joju George sustained a serious injury while filming Mani Ratnam’s highly anticipated movie, Thug Life, featuring Kamal Haasan. Rumours suggested that the Malayalam actor fractured a bone in his foot during a high-risk stunt, involving a helicopter jump.
However, a leading English daily clarified that Joju George’s fall did not happen during the filming of an action sequence. Apparently, he continued working despite the pain and had completed shooting.
The report also mentioned that Anbariv, the stunt choreographer duo of Thug Life, confirmed that Joju George’s injury did not occur while filming a stunt scene.
Meanwhile, Joju George is currently finishing the final stages of technical work on his directorial debut, Pani.
The film marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, who last worked together on the 1987 blockbuster, Nayakan.
Since its announcement, the movie has generated significant buzz and excitement within the industry, and it is expected to be one of the most prestigious projects for both Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan.
The film, which is scheduled for a 2024 theatrical release, features a star-studded cast, including Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Gautham Karthik, Sanya Malhotra, Ashok Selvan, Ali Fazal, and Pankaj Tripathi.
The actor-politician’s role in Thug Life has been disclosed as Rangaraya Sakthivel Naicker, sparking speculation about potential connections to his and Mani Ratnam’s Nayakan.
The connection between both films remains unclear, for now.
The Pondicherry schedule has wrapped up, with 60 percent of the filming finished. The production will move to Chennai for the next phase.
Thug Life has been filmed across various locations, including Serbia, New Delhi, and Rajasthan. Future shoots are planned for Kerala, followed by international locations.
Thug Life features music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi K Chandran, and editing by Sreekar Prasad. Sharmishta Roy is serving as the production designer, while Ekha Lakhani is the costume designer for the film.
