Actor Mamitha Baiju is the new heartthrob in South India, at least for this dull season that Tollywood is reeling under. Credit goes to her runaway blockbuster Premalu.

The romantic drama Premalu, a Malayalam original, has been doing extremely well in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and elsewhere in South India.

Premalu saw unexpected success at the Telugu box office despite its modest beginnings in the initial days of its release in Hyderabad and other towns in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The Malayalam actor initially took a remuneration of ₹30 lakh for her role in Premalu. But now, Mamitha Baiju reportedly increased her fee to ₹50 lakh, in the light of the film’s commercial success across industries down South.

Mamitha Baiju will next be seen in GV Prakash Kumar’s Tamil flick Rebel, which will hit the theatres on 22 March.

Further, she secured a role opposite actor Vishnu Vishal in an upcoming film. Additionally, she is flooded with offers to act opposite many stars in Tollywood.

Meanwhile, netizens feel that more than the acting, Mamitha Baiju should do some “balancing act” to deal with those offers as she started taking baby steps in her acting career.
