Chiranjeevi in Bhola Shankar

Bhola Shankar, the Telugu remake of the Tamil film Vedalam (2015), marks the 154th movie of Megastar Chiranjeevi. Surprisingly, the makers are not creating enough buzz ahead of its release.

As the flick heads for worldwide release on 11 August, the fans in the dugout are quite content with whatever is being served on the platter. Well, despite the less buzz, the mega fans seem to be of the opinion that Chiranjeevi would single-handedly make the boat sail through on the release date.

Meanwhile, rumours are agog that the fans are actually unhappy with the low-key promotions on social media about Bhola Shankar.

Well, the interest usually dies among Telugu moviegoers if a film is a remake. From the remuneration to its revenue at the box office, everything goes for a toss for the makers in case of remakes. And the decision to choose a massy film like Vedalam evidently evaporated their hopes.

When the film is directed by someone like Meher Ramesh, who is out of action for over a decade after giving flops with Shakti (2011) and Shadow (2013), fans would only have to curse Megastar.

But let’s not forget that big flicks like Bhola Shankar are spared because of the pre-release business it makes.

Well, there seems zero excitement about the reviews and how Bhola Shankar would be.

The trailer suggests that Bhola Shankar would be as shallow as the title itself. So, a few die-hard fans of Megastar started social media postings, guessing what is in store for the film.

Meanwhile, sources say that the makers are gearing up to face any eventuality in terms of bad reviews by critics.

Well, Chiranjeevi’s last flick Waltair Veerayya (2023) got mixed reviews from critics. But it turned out to be a blockbuster having grossed ₹100 crore worldwide.

Now, the makers of Bhola Shankar seem to have got the pulse of it. Hence, their promotions are now targeted at mass audiences.
