Jr NTR property dispute

Telugu actor Jr NTR has moved the Telangana High Court regarding a property dispute over a plot of over 600 square yards in Jubilee Hills Housing Society.

He challenged the recent decision of the Debt Recovery Tribunal in Hyderabad, which ruled in favour of the banks in the property dispute case.

The actor reportedly bought the property in 2003 for ₹36 lakh and built a home in 2007. The same property’s value at present is to the tune of ₹24 crore.

According to The Hindu, four banks petitioned the DRT claiming that certain private individuals mortgaged the plot and obtained loans. After hearing the parties’ arguments, the DRT issued a ruling in favour of the banks.

However, Jr NTR questioned the banks’ claims that the property was mortgaged in 1996 but purchased in 2003.

The actor contended that when the title documents possessed by him and those possessed by the bank were sent to the forensic lab, it was found that the documents under his possession were legitimate.

On Thursday, 16 May, the actor’s lawyer pointed out a technical issue in the DRT ruling.

However, as the order copy was not available, the Telangana High Court posted the matter on 6 June and ordered the actor to produce the order document before 3 June.

The case was being heard by a vacation bench comprising Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice J Sreenivas Rao.
