With no scope to fire the tranquillizer dart into the well, Meghana opted to be lowered into it in a cage to take the shot.
The daring rescue of a leopard was caught on camera when a wildlife veterinarian was lowered into a 30-foot deep well and later hauled up in the same cage with the sedated feline.
Dr Meghana Pemmaiah and her team from Chittepilli Animal Research and Rescue Centre were called in to help rescue the leopard stuck in a well near Mangaluru on Sunday, 13 February.
With no scope to fire the tranquillizer dart into the well, Meghana opted to be lowered into it in a cage to take the shot.
Once sedated, the leopard was dragged into the cage.
The cage, with Dr Pemmaiah and the sedated leopard, was hauled up with ropes. The leopard was administered first aid and translocated.
