Kerala: Forest watcher killed in elephant attack in Idukki, protestors block highway

Protests broke out in Santhanpara in Idukki following another elephant attack death.

Forest watcher Sakthivel was fatally attacked by a wild elephant. Recently, a farmer was killed by a tiger in Wayanad.

Agitating residents blocked the Kochi-Dhanushkodi national highway demanding adequate safeguards from wild animal attacks.

As many as 43 persons have died in wild elephant attacks in the region over the years.
