The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioning of BRS MLA and “Cash for MLAs” complainant Pilot Rohith Reddy has taken a new turn.

The central investigation agency issued a summons to Hyderabad-based businessman Abhishek Avala on Wednesday, 21 December, in connection with money-laundering allegations.

Abhishek, who is associated with eight companies, including beverages and tobacco companies, allegedly made business transactions to the tune of ₹7.5 crore with one of the family members of the Tandur MLA.

Rohith Reddy lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police station against Nandukumar Kore — a business associate of Abhishek’s — in the “Cash for MLAs” case after the poaching case came to light.

The ED grilled the MLA, when he appeared before it on Monday and Tuesday, in connection with the business transaction between his family member and Avala — a promoter of 7Hills Manikchand Products Private Ltd.

Details of the summons

In the summons, ED Assistant Director Sumit Goyal asked Avala to appear before him in person or through an authorised representative at 11 am on Thursday.

The ED also asked Avala to submit a copy of his Aadhaar and PAN cards, and details of all the companies that he has been a director or partner of since 2015.

The details of all bank accounts held in the name of Avala and his family members, along with information about all movable and immovable properties owned by him and his family members, were also sought by the ED.

Sources said that the ED is expected to grill the MLA again when he appears before it on 27 December, once it is done questioning Avala and verifying the bank documents submitted by him.
