After much dillydallying, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA from Tandur Pilot Rohith Reddy appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials in Hyderabad on Monday, 19 December, afternoon.

He was supposed to appear before the ED around 10.30 am on Monday, but he sent his personal assistant Sravan Kumar with a letter, seeking more time to appear and furnish the details the officials have sought.

The ED officials, however, turned down Reddy’s request, prompting him to appear before them at 3 pm in connection with money-laundering charges.

Before sending his personal assistant to the ED’s office, Reddy, it is learnt, met Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan in Begumpet along with legal experts and discussed the ED’s notice.

In the notice issued to Reddy on 15 December, the ED officials sought details of immovable and movable properties in his and family members’ names along with copies of invoices and sale deeds.

Details sought

He was also told to produce documents supporting the source of funds used to acquire the properties.

The officials also wanted Reddy to furnish a list of companies and trusts owned by him and his family since 1  April 2015, copies of the share register and all bank accounts since 2015 and documents of audited balance sheets.

The details of shares he and his family had sold were also sought in addition to loans and closed accounts held in the names of companies from 2015, and details of loans availed in the companies name. The ED also demanded copies of Reddy’s Aadhaar and PAN cards.

Reddy was among the four ruling-party MLAs who were present at a farmhouse in Moinabad in the city suburbs of Ranga Reddy district when the BJP allegedly tried to poach them.

He also deposed before a local court hearing the ‘cash for MLAs’ case that is being probed by a special investigation team.
