The chief minister complimented Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, and sarpanches of villages.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday, 17 April, expressed satisfaction over Telangana bagging 13 of the 46 National Panchayat Awards 2023 — for the appraisal year 2021-22 — presented to states for the excellence of panchayats in performance.
Of the 13 awards in the National Panchayat Awards 2023, eight were under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDU PSVP) and five under Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (NDSPSVP).
In an official statement, KCR said that it was a proud moment for Telangana to receive the awards from the hands of President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi.
The chief minister said, “Of the total 2.5 lakh gram panchayats who had competed for these awards, only 46 villages made the cut. Of them, awards in 13 categories went to Telangana alone, which means that we have cornered 30 percent of the awards. Of these 13 categories, four stood first.”

The chief minister said that these awards were an eloquent testimony to the progress made in rural development.
The mission will continue to ensure that Telangana would be at the forefront of the development of panchayats and remain a role model for the rest of the nation, he said.
This would further motivate the state to put in effort for the development of villages all over the country.
Dayakar Rao, after receiving the awards in Delhi, on behalf of the state government, said that the effective implementation of the Palle Pragathi programme, helped the state win the awards.
Telangana was the only state, which was extending grants on par with the union government to rural bodies, he added. Accordingly, villages in Telangana were witnessing all-around development, he said.
