T Raja Singh

A few days after BJP MLA T Raja Singh abandoned his vehicle at Pragati Bhavan in Begumpet as it was frequently developing technical snags, the Telangana government allotted a new bullet-proof vehicle to him.

The Intelligence Security Wing (ISW), which provides security to the chief minister, ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and other VIPs in the state, provided a 2017-model white Fortuner vehicle to Raja Singh.

The state government’s move should bring much-needed relief to the suspended BJP MLA as he is facing threats from several people for making provocative speeches.

A few days ago, he received calls from Pakistan threatening to kill him if he made more provocative speeches.

Abandoned previous vehicle

On 10 February, he abandoned his previous bulletproof vehicle near Pragati Bhavan and registered his protest against the state government for failing to provide a new bulletproof vehicle.

The vehicle was frequently developing mechanical snags. It developed snags over half a dozen times before it was abandoned.

Speaking to reporters after abandoning the vehicle, Raja Singh said the state government was not providing a new bulletproof vehicle due to fear of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

Stating that both the BRS and the AIMIM were the same, Raja Singh said a conspiracy was being hatched to eliminate him by not providing a proper vehicle. He said he would use his own vehicle henceforth.

The police later towed away the vehicle from the premises.

Several breakdowns

Raja Singh expressed displeasure over the “negligent” attitude of the ISW for failing to provide him with a proper vehicle as his bulletproof vehicle was frequently developing mechanical snags.

In the last instance, the bulletproof Scorpio’s front-left wheel came off, leaving Raja Singh and his security personnel shell-shocked.

It happened as Raja Singh was about to reach his house in Dhoolpet after attending the latest Assembly budget session. He escaped unhurt as the vehicle was not being driven fast.

Raja Singh said in spite of bringing the matter to the notice of officials concerned, the ISW failed to provide a new bulletproof vehicle.

The same vehicle got stranded several times earlier when Raja Singh was visiting districts to meet the party cadre.

There were several instances when the vehicle got stranded on highways, leaving him surprised.

On coming to know about it, the party leaders arranged for another vehicle and ensured a safe journey till he reached the venues to meet the cadre and return home in a hassle-free manner.
