The Kuniyamuthur Police registered a case in this regard, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

The police had booked one Srinivasan, the contractor carrying out the construction work.

When South First contacted the Kuniyamuthur Police Station, the police personnel said that rains were lashing the district for the past four days, and that the wall could have collapsed due to a reduction of grip or under soil erosion.

However, the reason for the incident would come to light only after a proper investigation, they said.

The police also confirmed that no other worker apart from the five was trapped under the debris.
