Two Hyderabad police constables injured after being stabbed by a criminal, one critical

Constables were part of a team deployed to track and arrest the accused who allegedly stabbed a person to death.

Hyderabad stabbing: Two police constables seriously injured

Two police constables of Cyberabad police were injured when they were allegedly stabbed by an accused at Jagadgirigutta, who is said to be involved in a murder case. 

While the injured constables are Ravi Naik (40) and Vijay Kumar (36), the accused was identified as Karan Singh (19).

“Both of them sustained injuries on the chest due to stabbing. While Ravi is critical, Vijay is out of danger now,” G Sandeep, DCP Balanagar zone, told South First.

The constables were posted at Narsinghi police station and the incident also happened under its limits only.

The stabbing

According to the police, the two constables were a part of a special team deployed to track and arrest the accused who was allegedly involved in stabbing a person to death in the early hours of Thursday.

“The accused was taking shelter at a relative’s house. When the constables reached the area, they were suddenly attacked with a knife by the accused resulting in serious injuries to one of them,” Sandeep said.

The two were taken to Medicover hospital where they were later admitted.

Meanwhile, the accused fled the scene after the stabbing police constables.

A case has been registered against him by the Jagadgirigutta police under 307 (attempt to murder), 332 (cause hurt to public servant) and The Arms Act.

Accused a criminal

The police said that the accused had stabbed one man with a knife at Narsingi, Hyderabad, after the latter asked him about his misbehaviour with his wife. 

The cops added that the man succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the hospital.

As per the police, the accused had also stabbed another person with a knife and snatched ₹15,000 cash from him.

Separate cases, including a case of murder, were registered against Karan, who had fled during the course of the investigation.
